Bridge in dangerous state or repair

Reported anonymously at 18:17, Sun 29 November 2015

Sent to Lincolnshire County Council and South Kesteven District Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 722372.

As google/bing areal shots will confirm there is a commonly traveled route by dog walkers, fishermen & kids from public footpath at bottom of winters lane, across the bridge. This bridge is rotten and has been patched in the past with sheet metal. If not repaired someone is going through into river or will get leg trapped by jagged metal. route is not a formal public footpath but has been used as such for at least the last 15 years.

Updates

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 08:56, Mon 28 December 2015

  • The council passed it on to the waterways who then said it was not their responsibility as it is not a navigatable section. Left with land owner to ignore.

  • Be careful what you complain about as the landowner will remove the bridge and then nobody can cross at all...its not that bad. use your eyes and common sense as its been like that for decades..

  • Agree, but I'd rather see it removed than a kid go through into the river. What would be best is if someone could provide proof/statement that route has been used as a public right of way for 20years or more, then it can be a registered public footpath and land owner can be forced to maintain it.

  • Landowner has now fenced the bridge off so no one can use it..Why would a kid go through it? stop being so stupid and health and safety conscious..kids need to judge and make their own decisions and not wrapped up in cotton wool.....
